Where do public libraries go in the future? How do we stay relevant and valued elements of the shared life of a community? As a starting point I think every library has to figure out why it matters in its community. And, that isn’t an easy thing to identify quickly.
At Curtis as a starting point our strategic planning committee spent six months reviewing what was going on in the world of public libraries, identifying the ideas we liked and didn’t like. At the end of this process we had a great reading list of some of the ideas circulating through library land. For other libraries going through the same process I’m attaching a copy of that reading list – I hope it is helpful!
