There are a lot of things that no one tells you about when you decide to become a librarian (or in my case a public library director). One of those things is that you have to be a bit shameless. If there is an opportunity to catch the attention of your community and get them to think about the library (in a good way), then you better be willing to do whatever that takes. So, this summer I kissed a pig. Not just any pig but Daisy the Pig. Daisy goes all over the country to libraries with Farmer Minor to encourage kids to read. That’s a good cause and it was certainly worth the kiss – although to a whole generation of kids in Brunswick I will now ALWAYS be known as “the lady who kissed a pig!!” Just call me shameless….
